About Me

Hello!

My name is Ollie (and some of you may know me as Lanky)

We will call this my profile as sorts as I will list everything about me, I'm pretty open and hate to come across as fake so I hope you'll forgive me if I list to much about myself!

Name:

Oliver Kenneth William Smith

Age:

20 going on 80

Sex:

Male but I do have a feminine side that likes to shine through (anyone for a tea party?!)

Location:

I was born and raised in the fine town of Topsham on the Exe Estuary, South of England

Interests & Hobbies

I absolutely adore boating.. preferably Sailing as I find wind is much more an experience than Petrol, I'm to ill(more on that later) to own one unfortunately so I get along sailing my virtual sailing simulator in Secondlife.

Aside from boating I also have an interest in computing more over the gaming side as it offers me a special ability, I can switch off from the real world and focus on another's life be it imaginary or true... I must say though the one field I adore not so much about gaming as it is about new Technological innovations and that is Virtual Reality!

My Guitar

Some of you may be reading this blog because you saw me playing freestyle in Secondlife or Real Life, that is ok but you'll probably want to know more about my Guitar? ok then!

Manufacturer:    Puretone
Model:               PTN100991

NOW THE SAD PART LOL!

I was not the perfect baby, in fact far from it!

I was born with 4 major Heart Diseases that have not only stunt my birth but my childhood and growing into a man.

Below I will try to list the technical details of the diseases...

Enlarged Heart:

An enlarged heart is a symptom of an underlying disorder that is causing the heart to work harder than normal. Another name for an enlarged heart is cardiomegaly. Possible symptoms include breathing problems, shortness of breath, dizziness, irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia), heart palpitations or fluid retention. An enlarged heart may be asymptomatic (have no symptoms).

Arrhythmia:

An irregular heartbeat is an arrhythmia (also called dysrhythmia). Heart rates can also be irregular. A normal heart rate is 50 to 100 beats per minute. Arrhythmias and abnormal heart rates don't necessarily occur together. Arrhythmias can occur with a normal heart rate, or with heart rates that are slow (called bradyarrhythmias -- less than 50 beats per minute). Arrhythmias can also occur with rapid heart rates (called tachyarrhythmias -- faster than 100 beats per minute).

Absent Pulmonary Valve:

Absent pulmonary valve is a rare defect in which the pulmonary valve, through which oxygen-poor blood flows from the heart to the lungs (where it picks up oxygen) is either missing or poorly formed. This condition is present at birth (congenital).

Hole in the Heart:

where there is a hole between two of the heart's chambers (commonly referred to as "hole in the heart")

Not much to go on on that one I'm afraid BUT the good news is they managed to fix this one when I was a wittle bundle of joy (Emphasize on the WHEN)

Scroll down for a little extra, My pacemaker! WARNING! GRAPHIC IMAGES!

Pacemaker

I was taken into hospital and had a Tracer fitted which is a type of Pacemaker except it monitors my heartbeat 24/7... need more details?

Say my symptoms sparked off as they normally do every now and then and my family were forced to dial 999(911 to some of you) well the Ambulance would turn up and the Paramedics would take their readings as normal except with my illnesses I listed above the readings would show up that I may be having a fatal heart attack or even dead when in fact I am not!

They put this device in so that if Paramedics come we tell them about the device and they mark the time down then just drive me to hospital then waiting upon arrival is all my readings printed off by the Cardiology department!

Below is a photograph of when it was put in(about an hour after) and then a way after photo I took a few weeks ago for a friend, if you look closely you can see my scar from the Hole correction surgery!
